Known in the world as italian capital of fashion and shopping, Milan can satisfy even the taste for art, history and culture of the ones who visit it. The city is a curious mix of modernity and history. Albeit continuously changing with the building of new and technologic skyscrapers, Milan preserved jealously the great monuments of the its past: the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio, the Sforza Castle and many others. The history of the city is preserved even in its numerous museums. First of all the Brera Art Gallery, an enormous art gallery specialized in lombard and venetian paintings and in which are placed some paintings of Caravaggio and Andrea Mantegna. Not to be missed are then the Modern Art Gallery and the Museum of '900. At least, a must see for art lovers is the Church of Holy Mary of Grace in which you can admire the fresco “Last Supper” of Leonardo da Vinci. One of the most appreciated area of Milan, both by tourists and locals, is the one of navigli – long water channels crossing the whole city. On the shores of these channels, only pedestrian, there are numerous nightlife clubs, restaurants and markets that every evening are crowded with people. Some stretches of the channels are still navigable and can be explored by boat: an excellent occasion to admire Milan from a different prospective.
